Royal Morning

If you thought I woke up at 4am to watch the Royal Wedding, you are very wrong.

Instead I recorded it, woke up at 6am and fast forwarded through most of it ;)

Little was very cooperative and did not wake up until the wedding was over. She got up exactly after the new couple entered the palace for the reception,
is she supportive or what?

After spending two hours watching perfectly manicured people on TV,
this is what awaited me.

Morning hair

Then as we got ready for the day, she kept waving back at the royals as they waves to the crowds from the palace's balcony.

Having fun responding to the waves
coming from the TV screen

1st Chicken Wings

Daddy was in the mood for chicken wings and since he has been working so hard on Little's playroom, we let him indulge and we join in for some yummy wings

The plan was for Little to eat something else, but she wanted to try them

She liked them!

To keep it moderately healthy I made sure she ate celery (which she liked) and I also gave her a glass of green smoothie

Busy bee

Little's favorite word of the week has been "Bee," she loves to mimic how bees do and she enjoys saying the word loudly.
Today, she was a busy bee herself.

Shopping

This is the only store she tried to go into, strange choice!
This is what she would like to do to Mr. B

More shopping

She got so excited when we got to the Deli counter.
I had to ask for a piece of cheese just so she could eat it.

Today we had the first phrase of the day. While I was out last night, Daddy taught Little how to say: "Close the Door" and "Open the Door." She only uses it for one specific door, but she uses it appropriately.

Now, I'm faced with the questions:
  1. When do I stop counting her "first" words?
  2. When do I stop marveling at the fact she can now learn words (and use them appropriately) very fast?
  3. When do I stop marveling at the fact she actually understands most of what I tell her?
My baby has become a child!

For those of you that may be interested, I've decided to share
the recipe for my green smoothie.

It takes 50 seconds.

Word of the Day

Glimpse into our family hug
Little's word of the day was bov, for those that don't understand toddle talk that is translated into hug.

Everyday Daddy gives us both a family hug. Little loves them and today she figured she could ask for them. In the afternoon every time she saw Daddy, she ask for family hug.

Mr. B wants to be part of the hug

The little mermaid

Before she realized what was happening...
Running around happily
My little mermaid wanted nothing to do with the water during our first AquaTots swimming lesson.

The moment we stepped into the water she started crying, at some points even screaming. The class continued as if nothing, tears or no tears she had to practice all the skills we want her to learn for water safety.
These are the skills she should learn from the five week class:
  1. Water Adjustment, Balance & Buoyancy
  2. Safe Water Entry/Exit
  3. Water Exploration and Submersion
  4. Assisted Front Glide & Back Float
  5. Water Survival Skills - Assisted Rollovers with Instructor or Parent
  6. Water Safety Techniques for parents to educate their child

Flirting with a boy after the class

And I get lollilops?!?

What do I do with this lollipop thing?
Even though she was not the happiest toddler in the class (there were only three), I believe the class was a success because with the proper guidance we took the first step in making sure Little enjoys her summer in the water.

We'll continue our classes next Tuesday

Playtime with the dog food

Yesterday afternoon Little discovered how fun the dog food can be.                                          She wanted to share the fun with me, so she would ask for my mano (hand), take me to the laundry room and say: silla (sit). Playtime consisted of grabing some of the food, putting it in on a plastic cup and shaking the cup as a maraca.                                                             And no, she didn't eat any of the food.

To the water

We are ready to start swimming lessons this morning. I am a bit nervous about it because Little has not been in a pool since last summer and lately bath time is not her favorite time of the day.

Wish us luck!

Things We Love

These past few weeks we have been struggling with leaky diapers at night.
For an entire week, every time I got Little from her crib her pants were soaked.

So my quest to find the best diapers in the market began...

For daytime we have always used Huggies, but the same diapers at nighttime were not absorbent enough.
I tried bigger sizes on the Huggies, I tried Pampers with Dry Max, I even tried the Target brand, and we still ended with wet nights.

And then online research lead me to Huggies Overnites.
These are the best overnight diapers in the market. They are designed with a special, non-toxic gel inside the diaper which keeps the urine at body-temperature and away from the skin, so Little does not wake up with a cold, wet diaper. The Overnites do seemed to weighed about 20 lbs when I take off Little in the morning, but no leaks.
Little now has dry nights and happy mornings!

Easter at the Lake

Little had plenty of opportunities to celebrate this Easter and with the arrival of Spring and the nicer weather, we took advantage of Easter theme events and celebrated it plenty.

We ended the celebration at Uncle J's lake house. We had a great time
 at Uncle J's lake house.

Dyeing eggs
Easter egg hunt
Dancing with her findings
Counting her eggs and the $$$ hidden inside
Are you a horse or a dog?
I'm not sure but you sure are sweet
Having fun with all her bunnies. She really loves them all

The count for Easter: four egg hunts, six stuffed bunnies and one stuffed lamb, $2.31 in coins, plenty of chocolate for mommy and daddy and one happy toddler.
